TheWebClinic.co.uk - the new B-1st
Thewebclinic.co.uk - the new name for b-1st.com
I was checking out a blog article that I wrote last month about a company that was using spam emails that contained outright lies and misleading information, by the name of b-1st.com, and I find that they have changed their name to thewebclinic.co.uk since my article hit the front page of Google. There is a 301 redirect from b-1st.com to thewebclinic.co.uk in place.
I don’t take credit for them changing their brand identity, as the owners bought the domain name, thewebclinic.co.uk, two weeks prior to my article being sent out (although they appear to claim to have been going since 1999 on their About-us page, with no mention of B-1st.com).It would seem, therefor, that they sent out one last load of spam emails from b-1st.com, just before closing their website down and redirecting it to thewebclinic.co.uk. Did they plan to fleece a load of unsuspecting website owners and then close the website down before re-opening as thewebclinic.co.uk - surely not? I’m sure that the timing was just unfortunate and that any b-1st customers would be taken over by thewebclinic.co.uk.
Ethical SEO
Thewebclinic.co.uk’s new website is well-written and visually attractive and they claim to be an ethical company. If that’s true, we forgive you for your spammy past and genuinely wish the people at the web clinic in Lancaster, every success with their new website.
I shouldn’t think that the web clinic will continue sending spammy, misleading emails out in order to attract business, but if they have not reformed and you do receive one from thewebclinic.co.uk, I would be interested to hear about it.

The Web Clinic are indeed continuing to send spam - a client of mine has just received one.
Exactly the same text as the b-1st mailings, but this time they’ve not used any reference to thewebclinic.co.uk … no links to click in the email, and the from address is carl.wilkinson@webclinicmailer.co.uk

Yes, I received an email from Carl Wilkinson today, exactly same as Tracy’s client received, no link to their website but you can trace by email address. When I searched webclinicmailer.co.uk on Google its appears to be broken link then I found this page about the webclinicmailer company. Only one thing that worried me was that when I checked Carl Wilkinson’s email on my mobile, it said your Google page ranking is 2 which upset me. I rush down to my office to see what’s happened to my site’s PR ranking and I found its still appears to be 4 out of 10. What a joke from webclinicmailer.co.uk. (thewebclinic.co.uk)
I don’t want to hear these jokes again!

One of my clients got one - again from Carl Wilkinson. Said that 79 inbound links (the good ones) was no good and that a PR of 4 showed the site was really pathetic. Fortunately my client laughed as much as I did!
Their words:
Your website has 73 back-links, meaning it’s not very popular. Back-links also help build your site’s Google Pagerank score which show’s how trustworthy your site is. Right now your site has a Google Pagerank score of 4/10, which is probably one of the main reasons why your site isn’t showing up in the first page of the search results.
I thought, these days, a PR of 4 was fairly good? Maybe someone should tell Carl Wilkinson!

I’ve just had one of these spammy, unsolicited emails as described above from carl.wilkinson @ webclinicmailer.co.uk and it’s frustrating that companies like this undermine the work of ethical SEO firms and agencies by perpetuating a series of myths about pagerank and backlinks.
I hope that when they get the web clininc email that people google Carl Wilkinson and web clinic mailer (and find this post) - if you have - please avoid them as Wilkinson and co. are discrediting the SEO industry with their spammy marketing practices by sending out generic, identikit emails which offer no insight, no genuine findings, and are based on outdated SEO methods.
Avoid.

Just received the same email from Carl Wilkinson - checked their ‘analysis’ of the site and found most of it be be false.
I tried to find the website using Carl’s email address but it doesn’t exist (webclinicmailer.co.uk).
Who would trust an SEO company that only deals by phone, charges £175 a month and has no web presence itself!
Rob they do have a web presence, but it’s not mentioned in the email - it’s thewebclinic.co.uk - it doesn’t change the fact, however, that Carl Wilkinson’s emails are illegal spam, as they don’t identify the company clearly and don’t feature their registration details on the email (see http://www.kenkai.com/seo-blog-article-72.htm). I received the following email this morning. Is this a spam?
It’s spam as it’s unsolicited and it is illegal, as it’s unsolicited, it’s not addressed to someone’s name, the name of the website that the pitch is coming from and the registration details of the company are missing from the email (http://www.kenkai.com/seo-blog-article-72.htm). I’m sure trading standards would be interested in a copy of the email. It also includes misinformation and straightforward lies. For example, you have 12 links pointing at your site, not 0.(http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/uk/siteexplorer/search?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.glw-feeds.co.uk&bwm=i&bwmf=s&bwmo=&fr=yfp-t-702&fr2=seo-rd-se). Hi
My name is Carl Wilkinson. A senior search consultant at The Web Clinic located in the north west of England. Excuse the unusual approach, however I am writing to inform you that I recently visited your website, www.glw-feeds.co.uk, during a routine survey of web sites which may be capable of higher search engine performance, resulting in an increase in online sales or leads. I hope this information may be of use to you, if not then I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
I took the liberty to do some research on your website, and uncovered some interesting points. This may interest you, since it appears that you are trying to gain new business through your website.
From my initial observations, your website is probably underperforming in the major search engines such as - Google, Yahoo, and Bing (formerly MSN Livesearch). When searching on a topic, you probably are aware that most people don’t look past the first page of search results. I struggled to find you in the first couple of pages of Google, meaning that you could be losing out on a significant amount of business.
After checking the search engines, I ran a back-link check on your site. Back-links are the number of times your site is linked through another website. Your website has 0 back-links, meaning it’s not very popular. Back-links also help build your site’s Google Pagerank score which show’s how trustworthy your site is. Right now your site has a Google Pagerank score of 0/10, which is probably one of the main reasons why your site isn’t showing up in the first page of the search results.
The final check I applied on your site was page indexing. The more pages your site has indexed with good content and unique keywords, the higher you will rank. Right now, your site has only 84 pages indexed by Google, which is quite low. This can be down to many reasons which our service can help resolve.
So, here’s a recap of my findings on your site:
- Your Google Pagerank is 0/10
- You have 0 back-links
- Your website has 84 pages indexed
I’m going somewhere with all this… I wanted to do my homework and research your website because I wanted to show you that I have applied some research in to your website before contacting you with my proposal. We are in the business of doing three things for your website:
1) Diagnosing and fixing all issues with your website
2) Ranking your site to the top of the search results, and
2) Significantly increasing your online revenue levels.
What we do is simple:
SEO is not rocket science as many would suspect. It takes a lot of man hours in hard work and research, something a lot of companies out there, just aren’t prepared to do without charging thousands per month. We are different, because we tackle every single issue with your website that effects how the search engines perceive you, through a combination of expert consultancy and direct work. Eventually putting you on the first page of search results in all the major search engines by working on your site month on month for a minimum period of 12 months. It’s a no-nonsense approach that cuts through marketing fluff to the core of what gets a site to the top. We know what that is. We know how to do it.
The reason why I’m so confident about that is because we have done it before . Our clients are very happy:Financial Advisers UK, Dubai Properties, Gravel, Health Store, Van Hire, Fire Extinguishers, Coffee Machines, Swimwear, Limo Hire, Mortgage Advisers UK, and more - all are on the first page of search results and are very competitive keyphrases. We put them there. We’re so confident that we’ll put you on the first page that we will refund your money if we don’t achieve what we promise.
With pricing starting from as little as £175 per month to promote your 5 most profitable search phrases per month, your website is too important to let it go to waste, especially when UK online sales were up by 30% to £59.8 Billion compared to last year. This only works out at £35 per search phrase, and don’t forget our money back guarantee.
I’d love to be able to discuss this in more detail. If you have the budget to promote a minimum of 5 Keyphrases; are genuinely serious about improving your online revenues and want professional SEO as it should be done for a fraction of what most companies charge, please reply to this e-mail with the keyphrases that you want to rank under or give me or any of my colleagues a call on 01524 888880, (option 1) and we’ll talk.
Kind regards,
Carl Wilkinson

I know of a company that signed a contract with the web clinic. After the contract was signed, it turns out that hours of work were needed to get the site upto a level where ratings would improve. The ratings didnt improve - but they said it was because x, y, z work wasnt done! Interesting, but it would be good to know who the company was and I could perhaps feature some free advice to them on the blog and check to see what optimisation work was actually done. BM

The web clinic WAS b-1st
b-1st WAS business 1st
business 1st WAS Mr. Net
They change their name every time their dodgy business practices catch up with them. They rebrand, tell their customers that the new company bought out the old and that they are all on new contracts along with being beholdent to any changes made as a result.
This company has NEVER been one of the ‘good guys’

This company is based on unethical practices. I know one of their customers. They get the contract signed for 12 months and do not get results. If the customer complains and refuses to pay they just take the payment off their card for 12 months..On asking for refund, they do not reply. They have pathetic customer care services. The projects are outsourced in India or phyliipines and they claim that they do it in house. In my opinion, this company is full of crap.

Hi guys, unfortunately I fell for their crap last year and set up a 12 months contract with them. Worse thing I ever did, my rankings went backwards for over 6 months until I gave them the boot. They are now threatening to send in the debt collectors unless I honour the contract. They said that I have a cast iron money back guarantee that they will honour if I see out the full 12 months, when asked when we will see a page one ranking in Google my relationship manger replied by email ‘we can only hope when it comes to Google’ it is at this stage I asked them to stop working on the account. They ignored this and sent me another update a month later and tried to take payment from my bank account and then said sorry we did not get your email. Beware!

What a load of ….. this is, well I would like to say some thing else… but will not in the hope that this comment gets published rubbish this company is, it is run by a guy that is actually struck off by companies house as being a banned director! They promise the world but deliver nothing, all out sourced to India and E-mail marketing in false names, none of the above actually e-mail marketing names are real names. Go with them and regret it, they will fold and open back up under a different name. Top 10 guarantee mean f….. all! STAY AWAY!
November 28th, 2012 at 6:43 am
I cant believe this company still exist. They are an unethical company and have crap services. They do not provide service and there is no value for money. The Managing Director is not allowed to do any business on his name as he has used unethical tactics during last decade and has taken advantage of his clients who were tied up in 12 month contracts. He keeps changing names and uses his family names to register new companies….They give you top 10 guarantee and when they cannot get you and you complain about it, they just say that it was you fault. You did not do this and that. What RUBBISH. What are we paying them for….CRAP COMPANY….that is what I would say. DON’T GET ATTRACTED TO ANY OF HIS OFFERS..THERE ARE MANY CASES GOING ON AGAINST HIM AND HIS COMPANY…..

They are still indeed spamming. We have just received unwanted email sent to an address only a harvester would have access to. It contained totally misleading info (we rank first page on nearly all search terms for our industry), here it is:

Thanks Tom, it seems that Carl Wilkinson and The Web Clinic are indeed, the same SEO spammers that they were when they were b-1st! BM
