Dog Friendly Accommodation in North Yorkshire
Once a year we take our dogs on holiday with us and finding dog friendly self catering accommodation is often an issue for us and we end up renting a log cabin in the middle of nowhere! However, this year we decided to head for North Yorkshire and we quickly found dog friendly accommodation in Pickering, which was an ideal base to travel to Whitby, Scarborough, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay, Dalby Forest, Sutton Bank, and Hutton-Le-Hole - in fact, the whole of the North Yorkshire area.
The pet friendly self catering accommodation can be found on the-huntsman.net website, where the owners, Tracy and Andy, offer 3 cottages and a static caravan, all of which are per friendly. They are advertised as pet friendly, but I’m fairly sure that guests only bring dogs, as I don’t consider the facilities to be ideal for a pot-bellied pig or a Clydesdale Horse .
We were in the Gelding Self Catering Cottage, which was clean and fresh and the beds were really comfortable. The cottage has all mod cons and is centrally heated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would thoroughly recommend both the holiday cottage and the area, if you have dogs. Most of the local pubs were happy for us to bring the dogs in, but those that weren’t, (and there were only two that we came across), had ample seating outside and were happy to offer table service
You don’t have to have dogs to enjoy a stay at The Huntsman, the accommodation is ideal for families or even couples, who are looking for an ideal base to explore the North Yorkshire area. Tracy and Andy can be contacted via their website, http://www.the-huntsman.net or directly on 01751 472530 or 07745 812221. The site has an easy to read availability calendar for each of the available cottages, so you can see at a glance if the holiday cottages are available for your dates.
One more quickie - if you visit Pickering, visit the Willowgate Bistro - local food at it’s best!
