Resum-Europe.com Job Scam Email
With the job market being somewhat slow at the moment, receiving an email purporting to be from consulting.com, with an email reply address of 4esume@ resum-europe.com, may seem like something the unemployed may want to follow up. DON’T! It’s a scam!
I received no less than 12 consulting.com emails today, or from resum-europe.com I should say, as consulting.com is a spoofed address, all with the same or similar text. Email details as follows:
Local representation needed for the International Consulting Company
From Consulting Company
no-reply598@consulting.com
Consulting company looking for local representationTarget countries: UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland
Main tasks to consist of handling backend logistics of sales of proprietary information products.
Having a positive and reasonably long relations history with local banks is essential (with references).
Contacts: 4esume@resum-europe.com
The resum-europe.com address is similar to other scam emails that have done the rounds over the past 6 months or so, from uk-resum.com and usa-resume.com addresses. If it has been going for some length of time, it’s obviously successful in making these scammers money and leaving poor unsuspecting mugs with their hearts ripped out. DON’T be tempted, it is a scam!
If you receive a similar email from resum-europe.com, uk-resum.com or usa-resum.com, let us know by leaving a comment below, if there are any other versions other than the one above. The more info we can print about these people, the less likely it is that unsuspecting jobseekers will be conned by them.

I have recieved a mail like this. Thinking about sending them a piece of my mind! =o) I’ve found that copying a article from a random newsweb in Norway - IN NORWEGIAN (he-he..) it will cause them to scratch their head for a minute or two.
Merry christmas!

I got same Email as described but never reply to them. But what is so disturbing is the fact our emails end up in all sorts of places. In this day of electronics we have to be very cautious.

This is the email I keep on receiving. The mean thing, which appears to be quite new, is that sender and recepient on these emaisl both are my own email address so that I would be forced to put myself on spam with traditional SPAM-features.

The frustrating thing about these scam spams is that they are clearly using Google Apps. for the domain resum-europe.com, (check the Mx details for the domain resum-europe.com ), so Google abuse team could easily stop them in their tracks by closing the crook’s Google Apps account, but they don’t respond to abuse reports.

I keep getting these as well, and the bounces.
For anyone like Erika who is getting the bounces then it is 99.9% likely that it is just a Joe Jobs - they put your address as the “reply to”, because there is nothing stopping them doing it, and the other end was stupid enough to reject it with a new bounce instead of a rejected code.
Things like SPF records *should* solve the Joe Jobs problem because it’d show it wasn’t sent by an authorised server and should be dropped but a) people don’t set up SPF records, b) a good number of those who do set up a “soft fail”, which is about as useful as having nothing set up, and c) lots of people don’t check them on the in-bound.
As for the “your own address in the from line”, SPF records should resolve that for a lot of spam. Unfortunately, for this spam then the spammer is setting a “return path”, which is checked in preference to the “to” line (because it lets the system handle forwarding/”on behalf of” emails properly) and so it *looks* like it comes from you, but systems like SPF won’t fail it because they see it as coming from someone else.
Why can’t W3C and co set up a new response code in HTTP and SMTP along the lines of “601 DieSpammerDie” that self-destructs and spam bots? neat idea !

My message was exactly the same as stated above. What bugs me most is that my own email address is used, and alongside with the spam mails, I get all the bounce-mails as well. This suddenly started happening a couple of weeks ago, and I know that my comp is not infected, I have no idea what the change has been. Reading up on it I found out that using the targets email as the origin email is a simple spammers trick. My question: is there anything I can do about it? The email address is my business address ( not used here) so I’m not likely to change it. Anyone any suggestions? Is it perhaps an issue with your server? BM
