BBC to feature Google’s YouTube clips
YouTube on the BBC
Popular video-sharing website, YouTube, which is owned by Google, have agreed a content sharing deal with the BBC. The BBC plan three YouTube Channels, two for Entertainment and one News Channel.
The BBC are obviously looking to drive some of the YouTube traffic to their own website and considering YouTube has a monthly user base of some 70 million users, it is a clever move on the part of the BBC.
As the BBC will also get a share of the advertising revenue that is generated from the new Channels, we will no doubt hear accusations that the BBC are moving away from their public-service remit, funded by licence payers and into more commercial markets, but anything that gives us more variety and brings the BBC into the 21st century is okay with me.
