Arran Aromatics Driftwood Shaving Cream

Driftwood Shaving CreamLiving in Scotland, we don’t normally get much of a summer; 2 or 3 days at the end of July, usually! However, with this heatwave, I made the decision that it was time to let the sun at my face and lose the beard! I shave my head every day and keep my beard trim, but I had to take real care when removing my beard, as my face hasn’t seen the light of day in over ten years!

I needed a rich creamy shaving cream, so called Brian Mulreany of Executive Shaving - and he recommended Arran Aromatics Driftwood Shaving Cream, for it’s smooth, creamy consistency and the fresh manly scent.

The Driftwood shaving cream was only £14.50 and was delivered the next day - there’s no messing about with Executive Shaving, they are the best online shaving professionals I’ve found and their products always arrive quickly and really well packed.

Shaving Preparation

The first thing that struck me was that there are no tiny lumps in the Arran Aromatics shaving cream it was really smooth and smelt fresh and clean. It’s hard to describe the aroma, ”fresh orangey-heathery” is the closest I can come, but several people have commented on it - in a positive way - since I started using it regularly. Anyway, back to the shave. I used my clippers to take the beard down to stubble, brushed my stubble with really hot water for a couple of minutes, with my badger brush and prepared the Diftwood shaving cream, by dipping my pinky into the tub, dropped it into my lathering bowl and lathered up in the bowl with my already wet brush. I over did the water, making the lather too runny, so added an extra blob of cream to get the right creamy lather and brushed it into my beard.

Despite not having taken my beard off for over ten years, I was able to get a smooth shave, with no nicks, on the first shave - but I had a second one anyway, as I enjoyed the first so much!

Using the Arran Aromatics shaving cream, I find that I don’t get the razor rash that I used to get regularly - hence the beard - and I’ve now managed to beat the temptation to regrow my beard, as the Driftwood shaving cream has turned my morning shaving ritual into something that I look forward to, rather than it being a chore :) I would thoroughly recommend Driftwood Shaving Cream and the other Arran Aromatics shaving range products, three of which I bought on Sunday, including the Driftwood post shave balm, which is to die for!
