The Woolpack Inn, Tillicoultry
If you are looking for a regular pub in the Alloa - Hillfoots area, you need look no further than The Woolpack Inn in Tillicoultry. I’ve loved this pub since I was a boy, when my dad took me there on a Sunday morning, when we were out “To get the papers!”. It’s amazing the number of Hillfoots’ men that daundered to the Woolpack, before returning home for his dinner!
I visited the Woolpack regularly until the age of 24, when I started my travels around the UK and Europe and hadn’t been back until recently, when myself and my wife were out for a stroll, showing her all my old haunts in Dollar and Tillicoultry. We popped into “The Woolie” for a quick one, which turned into lunch, which turned into staying on until the evening and getting a taxi home; picking up the car the next day!
The landlord, Simon, was charming and very attentive; not just to myself and my wife, but to all of his customers and our lunch was both tasty, filling and great value for money! I loved the fact that there was a lot of banter - some of it merciless - but nobody took offence and there was never a hint of trouble all day, despite some healthy debates. The Woolpack Inn, in my humble opinion, is the best pub in Clackmannanshire - that I’ve been in, obviously

The pub has a live act at least twice a month and on the last Thursday of every month, they have an evening folk music jam session, where all musicians are welcolme and everyone has a sing-song.
